Team Feature: Colombia with Jossimar Calvo

Colombia will be taking to the competition floor in Toronto in a dazzling new navy uniform. Designed by British designer Angelo Trofa during his 2015 South American travels, the fully sublimated uniform uses a stunning new template that has been customized with a lightly contrasting Colombian pattern across the front. The Colombian flag sits proudly over the heart of the gymnast, and a small Colombia text banner icon completes the design on back yoke. Navy will be a familiar look for fans of Colombia, famously worn by the country's national soccer team. Complete with red flat cover side seams and navy binding, the singlet will feel like a second skin, giving gymnasts maximum comfort and friction free movement.

Turn: What are the goals for the Pan-Am Games, both as a team and as an individual?

JC: The truth is we want to do a good job and give a solid performance, which should be enough for a place on the podium. As an individual I want to successfully defend my All-Around title.

Turn: How are preparations going?

JC: Preparations are good, we have several competitions in preparation for the Games so I'll be looking to gain consistency and perfect my routines. We just had the National Championships, we are at the World Cup in Anadia, Portugal this week, and then have the South American Championships in Colombia in June before traveling to Toronto.

Turn: Once your competition in Toronto is over, are you looking forward to watching any of the other 35 sports?

JC: I don't have any sports in particular that I'd like to watch, but I'd love to get around to the venues and see some of the other competitions and experience the Games.

Turn: If the FIG and your government gave you $2,000,000 to improve the level of gymnastics in your country, how would you spend it?

JC: I think that such an investment should be spent on centralized training, bringing the national team gymnasts and coaches together so we can better prepare the team for major events, starting with the World Championships in Glasgow later this year, the first step to qualifying for the Olympic Games.
